Job Description

Summary

The Senior Fire Protection Estimator is responsible for identifying customers, fostering and maintaining customer relationships, estimating jobs, bidding, and assigning tasks after contract award. 


Responsibilities

  • Review websites and information sources to determine which upcoming projects require Addressable Fire Alarm systems.  
  • Coordinates with business development to identify projects for Addressable Fire Alarm Systems bids. 
  • Communicates and leverages successful relationships with existing customers for design-build, invitation-only projects, and upgrades.  
  • Downloads, prints, and reviews project documents such as drawings, specifications, addendums, and memos.  
  • Participates in preconstruction site walks to develop Request for Information (RFI) documents.  
  • Strategizes on EMI’s approach to support scopes of work.  
  • Creates Fire Alarm equipment take-offs through an estimating program to develop a detailed bill of materials.  
  • Creates project-specific Excel spreadsheet capturing bill of materials, engineered drawings, submittal documents, installation labor, contingency, project manager/project lead bonus, travel, and per diem if applicable.  
  • Creates Fire Alarm quotes supporting design criteria and or contract documents.  
  • Communicates with involved parties throughout the bidding process and updates them regarding any changes and or modifications.  
  • Submits Fire Alarm quotes one day before bid date and qualifies the estimate based upon previous conversations.  
  • Assigns Job Numbers.  
  • Provides project paperwork for work execution and documentation.  
  • Completes Project Manager Detail Sheet.  
  • Enters project into Engineering Que.  
  • Coordinates project documents with the Fire Marshal, as needed.   
  • Reviews Bill of Materials and places orders with appropriate Manufacturer.  
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or a related field is preferred
  • Experience with Clean Agent Suppression systems is essential for this role
  • Must speak, read, write, and understand the English language, apply written rules, detailed orders, and instructions.
  • Valid State Driver’s License. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

  • Knowledgeable of clean agent suppression system installed.  
  • Familiar with the operations of clean agent suppression systems. 
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook. 
  • Proficient in oral and written communication. 
  • Ability to work as part of a larger geographically dispersed team.
