Job Description

Summary

The Security Supervisor is responsible for providing first-line oversight and leadership to Protective Security Officers (PSOs) assigned to the Department of Transportation Headquarters. This role ensures the consistent delivery of high-quality security services in accordance with the contract, post orders, and applicable laws and regulations. Supervisors are accountable for ensuring personnel readiness, professionalism, and compliance with all contractual and operational standards. While acting in a supervisory capacity, individuals may not simultaneously perform the duties of an Armed Contract Security Officer (ACSO). 

 

This position is contingent upon contract award


Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor day-to-day activities of PSOs to ensure proper performance and post coverage. 
  • Ensure all assigned security officers: 
  • Are properly trained and fully briefed on post orders and responsibilities. 
  • Maintain required certifications, permits, and qualifications, including CPR and first aid. 
  • Are in compliance with uniform and grooming standards per the Security Manual and SMART BOOK. 
  • Are capable of responding appropriately to emergencies or unusual situations. 
  • Enforce adherence to all contract terms, post orders, and operational procedures. 
  • Conduct regular inspections of security personnel and posts to verify compliance. 
  • Maintain open communication with the Facility Commander and Project Management Team regarding personnel performance, post issues, or operational concerns. 
  • Ensure supervisors do not provide relief or act in a dual capacity as PSOs while performing supervisory duties. 
  • Support corrective action plans, employee evaluations, and training initiatives. 
  • Respond to incidents and provide on-site leadership during critical situations. 
  • Comply with all reporting and documentation requirements set by the government and contractor. 

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in law enforcement or a security-related field, or a combination of both. 
  • At least three (3) years must be in a supervisory capacity with a record of exceptional service. 
  • Two years of college in any field of study, or substantial and credible law enforcement, military, or business management experience. 
  • Must not act in the dual role of Armed Contract Security Officer while serving in a supervisory function. 
  • Must be able to pass a Tier 2 background investigation and meet all government suitability standards. 
  • Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills. 
  • Must be able to effectively train, evaluate, and guide PSOs in accordance with contract standards. 
  • Must maintain all certifications and credentials required by contract, local, and state regulations. 
  • Must be able to pass Physical Abilities Test. 
  • Must be able to pass Medical and Physical Screening. 
  • Must be able to pass Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) (Behavioral Analysis). 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Skill in operating a personal computer and standard office equipment. 
  • Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and Outlook 
  • Must write clearly and informatively; edit work for spelling and grammar; vary writing style to meet needs; present numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written information
